Jim Povec

Principal, Padgett Performance Group

imageJim Povec recognized early how essential "emotional intelligence" would become in guiding talent acquisition, job-fit, and talent management. In 1999, he discovered the workplace suitability tool, Harrison Assessment, which forms the theoretical basis for his consulting, coaching, and training services.

At Padgett Performance Group, Jim leads all executive coaching and training initiatives. His specialty is using the Harrison Assessment to build customized job templates that measure "essential traits" and "traits to avoid" for any position in an organization.

Jim was the founder and CEO of ImproveNow.com, which offered online assessments for employees to evaluate their supervisors and managers. Most of Jim's career has been spent in IT publishing and conference/exposition organizations. He served as President and CEO at ComputerWorld, NetworkWorld, CIO, and other major information titles. For the International Data Group in Japan, Jim launched SunWorld Magazine and Expo, MacWorld Expo, and WindowsWorld Magazine and Expo. For Softbank, Jim was responsible for the brand development and management in Japan of COMDEX, Seybold, Java One, as well as Networld + Interop (N + I) expositions and conferences. Jim earned a BS degree in Journalism from Ohio University.
