Assessment Case Study

Conflict between two members on the executive team of a large regional bank was causing dysfunction and creating low morale. The CEO had had enough. He called us to see if we had a suggestion—short of terminating one or both of the employees.

We began by suggesting that all six direct reports and the CEO complete the Harrison Assessment.

After we received the results, we conducted telephone 360s with every member of the executive team, including the CEO. This was followed by individual coaching.

A meeting with the entire group was held off-site where the 360 results were presented. Within the first 30 minutes, the two members in conflict realized that their actions were self-serving and ego-driven. They apologized to the rest of the team for their disruptive behavior, which immediately transformed the tenor of the meeting. The remainder of the off-site became inspiring and transformational.

The CEO realized the impact on the team and now uses the Harrison Assessment as the basis for leadership development and training.  The CEO later reasoned that the same assessment approach could be used for recruiting new employees. Now no one is hired without first taking the Harrison Assessment.
